South African batsman Jacques Kallis has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week after an impressive run of form in the Indian Premier League playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He helped the Challengers hit the top of the table in the early stages of the competition with three excellent performances against the Kings XI Punjab, the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians.
He took a wicket and then scored an unbeaten 89 in 55 balls to steer the Challengers to victory over the Kings XI Punjab in a high-scoring game, took two for 20 and hit an unbeaten 44 as the Challengers thrashed the Royals and finished his week with a wicket and an innings of 66 not out in 55 balls as the Challengers beat the Mumbai Indians.
After four matches, the opener had scored 264 runs in the tournament without being dismissed.
Other contenders for the weekly award included Deccan Chargers' Andrew Symonds, Chennai Super Kings' Matthew Hayden and Muttiah Muralitharan, Kings XI pair Ravi Bopara and Irfan Pathan and Australian Michael Clarke.
