Cricket World® Player Of The Week - Virat Kohli September 2008
Young Indian batsman Virat Kohli has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week after impressing during the Mohammad Nissar Trophy match between Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Delhi.
Playing for Delhi, Kohli hit 52 out of his side's first innings 134 and after their opponents secured a first innings lead by hitting 266, Kohli made 197 as he put on a competition-record 385 runs with Akash Chopra for the second wicket, which built up Delhi's overall lead before the match finished as a draw when rain washed out the final day.
The Pakistan side, for whom Imran Ali took a hat-trick on day one, were declared the winners on first innings to become the first side from Pakistan to win the trophy.
Without Kohli's two innings, however, they would have probably triumphed outright.
The Cricket World ® Player Of The Week is judged by the www.cricketworld.com Editorial Team, which takes into consideration matches played in the preceding week with the final decision made on Monday morning.
