Hampshire batsman Jimmy Adams has been named as the Cricket World® County Player Of The Week after he scored 162 runs in two Friends Provident t20 matches.
In a remarkable match against Somerset, which his side went on to lose by seven runs, Adams easily top scored in a low-scoring match with an innings of 61 in 47 balls.
Somerset had set Hampshire 105 to win and Adams hit nine fours and a six before his dismissal sparked an alarming collapse and Hampshire were bowled out for 97.
Two days later, Adams and Hampshire made amends as his unbeaten 101 in 65 balls helped his side post 201 for two and pull off a ten-run win over Surrey.
He hit seven fours and four sixes to help Hampshire move into fourth place in the table.
Other contenders for the weekly award included Adam Gilchrist and Wes Durston, who also scored centuries for Middlesex and Derbyshire respectively in the FP t20, and others to have put in strong performances were Sean Ervine, Matthew Prior, Kieron Pollard, Ravi Bopara and Ian Bell.
