South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has received the all-clear from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he was found to have an abnormal amount of morphine in his system during the 2009 tournament.
The abnormal amount had been explained by Cricket South Africa (CSA) as due to medication Steyn was taking for chronic migraines.
“There was a discrepancy in the result of a doping test during the IPL,” CSA CEO Gerald Majola said in a statement.
"The authorities are perfectly satisfied with the explanation that Dale has provided and they have confirmed that no offence has been committed.”
Steyn is now set to join his international team-mates as they prepare for the Champions Trophy on home soil with a training camp in Potchefstroom later this month.
IPL Chairman Lalit Modi had earlier revealed that there were no positive dope tests during the 2009 edition of the tournament, which was moved to South Africa following security concerns in India.
