North Group, Natwest T20 Blast, Worcester

Wayne Madsen scored a fifty and picked two wickets as well as Derbyshire completed a seven wicket victory over Worcestershire in their North Group Natwest T20 Blast encounter on Wednesday.

Derbyshire won the toss and decided to field first. Madsen (2-20) surprisingly opened the bowling and was rewarded with the wicket of Daryl Mitchell (3).

Joe Clarke (42) kept the innings upbeat with a blistering 18-ball knock that had six boundaries and two sixes while Brett D'Oliveira (23) and Ben Cox (40 not out) provided brief support, though, their strike-rate were very low.

In the end Ross Whiteley (39) followed by a powerful three-ball cameo from John Hastings (16 not out) that had two sixes and a four ensured Derbyshire completed the innings at 186 for three.

In response, Derbyshire got off to 64 runs off five overs with Billy Goldeman (70) and Matt Critchley (31) in full flow. Even though, Worcestershire made a brief comeback with wickets of Critchley and Luis Reece (9), Goldeman and Madsen (58 not out) carry forwarded the momentum.

In the end, Madsen held his nerve along with a seven ball cameo from Gary Wilson (17 not out) to ensure Derbyshire crossed the line in 18.2 overs.
