Derbyshire have signed 18-year-old Anguillan left-arm spinner Chesney Hughes on a contract until 2011.
He made his debut for Anguilla in 2006 as a 15-year-old and also has two One Day starts to his name while he has also represented the West Indies Under-19s.
“Chesney came highly recommended by former Hampshire opening bowler Cardigan Connor," Derbyshire Head of Cricket John Morris said. "After he played some second team cricket and trained with the first team it was clear that he possesses a great deal of ability.
“This contract with Derbyshire provides him with an excellent opportunity to further his career.”
