Derbyshire have signed South African all-rounder Robin Peterson on a Kolpak contract for the 2010 season as they continue to build their squad ahead of a big season.
Peterson, a left-arm spinner and hard-hitting batsman, has played 46 times for South Africa since making his debut in 2002, playing six Tests, 35 One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals and he has become a key part of the Cape Cobras line-up, often opening the batting in limited overs cricket.
“We are delighted and excited by the capture of Robin who is an all-rounder of international quality and plenty of experience," Derbyshire Head of Cricket John Morris said.
“Good quality spin bowlers are a valuable commodity in the modern game, as are explosive batsmen. Robin brings both of those attributes to the party and I am thoroughly looking forward to working with him in 2010.”
Peterson will join Mark Footitt, Steffan Jones, and Lee Goddard as new arrivals at the County Ground next year.
