Derbyshire have unveiled the signing of New Zealand top-order batsman Martin Guptill as their overseas player for the second part of the 2011 county season.
Guptill, 24, will replace Australian batsman Usman Khawaja for the second half of the season and will feature in the LV= County Championship and Clydesdale Bank 40 competitions.
Guptill has played for New Zealand 77 times since making his debut in 2009, representing them in all three formats of the game and is also part of their 15-man 2011 World Cup squad.
“Martin has made a significant impact on the international scene in recent times and we are excited about bringing such a talented cricketer to Derbyshire," Head of Cricket John Morris said.
“I’m sure the experience of playing County Cricket will be of great benefit to Martin as it has been for many international cricketers in the past.”
