Derbyshire have signed former South African international fast bowler Nantie Hayward for the remainder of the season.
He will effectively replace Charl Langeveldt, who picked up a shoulder injury in the Indian Premier League and will not now be joining up with Derbyshire.
“After the disappointment of losing Charl Langeveldt for the season, it was very important that we brought in somebody to strengthen our bowling department," Head of Cricket John Morris said.
“Although we have got some great young talent and some fine bowlers already at the club, there is a lot of cricket to be played this year and a squad of bowlers is always needed.
“With that in mind, to be able to get somebody of Nantie’s experience at such short notice is a timely boost for the team.”
Hayward played 16 Tests and 21 One Day Internationals for South Africa and has previously represented Hampshire, Middlesex and Worcestershire in county cricket.
