Leicestershire 619 (Cosgrove 188) v
Derbyshire 154-1 (Goldeman 60no)
County Championship, Division Two, Derby
Ned Eckersley scored 158 runs at a brisk pace building on the platform laid by centuries from Colin Ackermann and Mark Cosgrove as Leicestershire piled out 619 runs in their first innings in the County Championship Division Two clash against Derbyshire on day two.
Derbyshire responded to the massive first innings total from Leicestershire positively as they scored 154 for one in the 45 overs before stumps with contributions from Ben Slater (42), Billy Godleman (60 not out) and Shiv Thakor (35 not out).
Earlier, Leicestershire resumed their innings at 415 for three. Cosgrove (188) added another 50 runs to his overnight score but missed out on a double century but Eckersley (158) looked in good touch as his runs came at a strike rate close to 92 and had 24 boundaries and a six in it.
Jeevan Mendis (6-204) provided the breakthrough removing Cosgrove and also picked five other wickets but it came too late in the innings as Leicestershire amassed a massive 619-run total.
