Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been named as the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain ahead of the Indian Premier League 2014.
Dhawan will take over from Kumar Sangakkara, who led the side during the 2013 season, where they reached the play-offs.
Dhawan began his IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils in 2008 beore moving to Mumbai Indians, who he represented from 2009 to 2010.
He switched to the Deccan Chargers in 2011, who were subsequently replaced Sunrisers last year after a change in ownership.
In 67 IPL matches, he has scored 1,851 runs with a highest score of 95 not out, an average of 32.47 and strike rate of 122.42.
He has scored 16 half-centuries, three of them coming last season.
Darren Sammy will be his vice-captain.
The 2014 season gets underway in the United Arab Emirates due to the Indian general election clashing with the tournament dates and the Sunrisers begin with a game against Rajasthan Royals on 18th April.
