Hampshire have been hit with the news that captain and all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas has suffered an injury setback and that seam bowler Kabir Ali may require knee surgery.

All-rounder Mascarenhas made his comeback during the Friends Provident t20 victory over Kent but Hampshire have confirmed that he aggravated the Achilles injury that had ruled him out of the start of the season.

He initially picked up the injury playing the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and is now set for another four or five weeks on the sidelines.

Kabir injured his right knee during training earlier this week and underwent a scan yesterday (3rd June). He will be assessed by a consultant in London next week and Hampshire expect him to be missing for the rest of the season.
