The first ever Twenty20 International in Dubai between Australia and Pakistan on Thursday (7th May) is being greatly anticipated in the United Arab Emirates.

A party atmosphere will greet the two sides and authorities are hopeful that they will fill the 40,000 capacity Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The two sides will meet in a Twenty20 match for the first time since Pakistan beat Australia by six wickets in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 in Johannesburg.

“Twenty20 cricket is all about entertaining the crowd and creating a tremendous party atmosphere,” said U. Balasubramaniam, CEO, Dubai Sports City. “The Dubai International Cricket Stadium will become a cauldron of noise on Thursday, and we hope that many people new to cricket join us for the event.

“The success of the Chapal Cup has shown that Dubai Sports City has in place the infrastructure and expertise to host international matches. We are now aiming to sign agreements to create our own tournament in the near future,” added Balasubramaniam.

Tickets are still available through www.boxofficeme.com (+971) 4 367 6699 and www.timeoutdubai.com, 800 4669.

Prices range from just AED 75 up to AED 700. Corporate hospitality packages are also available from Dubai Sports City on (+971) 4 425 1111.

Platinum tickets (AED950) have already sold out for the event.
