Durham County Cricket Club Chairman, Clive W Leach CBE, today presented the Durham CCC 2XI with the First Class Counties Second Eleven Championship Trophy.

Durham 2XI Captain Gordon Muchall was presented the trophy on behalf of the team after Durham topped the 2XI Championship table after an unbeaten run in 2008. Durham recorded eight wins and seven draws, scoring the highest batting points (42) in the league.

Durham 2XI Captain Gordon Muchall, said, "It’s been a great season for the team, there have been some excellent individual performances which have really moved the team forward as a whole. The team has been really strong all season and we deserved to walk away with the trophy."

Durham CCC Chief Executive, David Harker, added, "The 2XI will produce the future stars of our first team and to see them achieving success in the Second Eleven Championship is particularly exciting."

The pair come into the squad due to a quadracep muscle injury to Liam Plunkett and the decision to rest Graham Onions as he continues his recovery from a back operation.
Durham have welcomed Graham Onions back into their matchday squad ahead of the LV= County Championship game against Yorkshire at Headingley Carnegie. Onions is back in contention for a first-team place after undergoing surgery on a back injury that ruled him out of all cricket since May.
Durham welcome back fit-again captain Phil Mustard for their season-opening LV= County Championship match against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl. Mustard returns following a foot injury and a strong bowling attack while be led by Steve Harmison and having shown good form in pre-season, leg-spinner Scott Borthwick earns a starting place.
