Durham have signed Ireland international and former Middlesex wicket-keeper Stuart Poynter on a two-year contract.
Poynter, 23, is also a former MCC Young Cricketer and follows in the footsteps of Michael Richardson, who is also a graduate of the Young Cricketers programme.
Durham will become Poynter's third county following spells with Middlesex and Warwickshire but an innings of 172 against Durham's second XI for the Young Cricketers went a long way towards him joining the club.
He was part of the second XI squad during the end of the 2013 season and after a century against Leicestershire's second XI, has earned himself a two-year permanent contract.
Durham, the reigning county champions, are hoping that Poynter, who has played first-class and one-day cricket for Ireland, will provide competition for England-capped first-choice wicket-keeper Phil Mustard.
