Dwayne Smith To Join Sussex For Twenty20 Cup

West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Smith has joined Sussex in time for the Twenty20 Cup, the Hove-based side announced this morning.

Smith, 25, recently stood in for compatriot Dwayne Bravo in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians.

He has also played ten Tests and 71 One Day Internationals.

Sussex head coach Mark Robinson commented, "Obviously, we are excited to have Dwayne join us. We've had to move quickly on this following injury to Mushtaq Ahmed and at a day's notice I feel very lucky to have gained such a high quality player.

"Dwayne impressed in the World Cup last year playing for the West Indies and is also a team-mate of Corey Collymore in Barbados.

"He will, in theory, be a like for like replacement for Luke Wright when he joins England," he added.

Sussex, losing semi-finalists in 2007, open their Twenty20 campaign against Kent tomorrow.
