The ECB have today confirmed the full schedule for the 2013 Champions Trophy, which will be held in England and Wales from 6th June. The tournament will be played across three different venues: The Oval in London, Cardiff’s SWALEC Stadium, and Edgbaston in Birmingham. It will be the last time that the event is held and is expected to be replaced by the inaugural Test Championship in 2017 as the ICC move to having one championship for each format of the game.

The tournament format is to split the eight best One-Day International teams into two groups of four with the top two from each group progressing to the semi-finals. The final will be held at Edgbaston on 23rd June. The pick of the group matches is India’s Group B clash against Pakistan at Edgbaston on 13th June. The other teams in Group B are Pakistan and South Africa. Group A is made up of England and Australia, who play each other on 8th June, as well as Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Tournament Director, Steve Elworthy said of the tournament, “This will be an incredible opportunity for fans to see the world’s very best One-Day International sides in action over the space of less than three weeks and the fixture schedule has thrown up a host of exciting head-to-head contests. The format means every match counts and all eight teams will feel that they are capable of winning the tournament in a competition which is set to be one of the highlights of the 2013 summer. “
