ECB Grant May Force Venue Change For Late Match

The ECB have awarded a £600,000 grant to The Yorkshire County Cricket Club which will be used to completely relay the outfield at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground and introduce new drainage and irrigation systems. This will increase the amount of cricket played at the ground and reduce the amount of time lost to poor weather.

The Club require sufficient time to carry out the work on the outfield and consequently the Board have approved a venue change for Yorkshire’s final home LV County Championship fixture against Somerset which is scheduled to commence on 17th September. The Club are currently in negotiations with Scarborough Cricket Club about relocating this fixture to North Marine Road, but are also considering a number of other opportunities.
