Edgbaston Stadium has confirmed that its new West Stand will be renamed as the David Swann Stand on Day 3 of this week's Investec Test Match between England and the West Indies, after running a promotion for supporters that have purchased tickets within the Stand.
On Saturday 9 June, David - who is Head of Pricing EMEA at Travelex and lives in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey - will see his name branded along the back of the new West Stand, which was completed as part of Edgbaston's £32 million redevelopment.
"I first came to Edgbaston for the Ashes Test in 2009, and loved the atmosphere and experience so much that we decided to return, although I didn't expect to have a stand renamed in my honour," he said.
"Not many people can say they've had part of one of the world's most famous cricket venues renamed in their honour, so I feel very privileged and can't wait for the day.
David will be in attendance at Edgbaston with two friends and his fiancee, who he actually met at a cricket match at The Oval. He will have his photo taken in front of the renamed stand before England and the West Indies take to the field on Day 3.
Colin Povey, Chief Executive of Edgbaston Stadium, said: "The West Stand opened last summer as part of our £32 million redevelopment, so this will only be the second time that it's been used for an international fixture.
"With no naming rights partner currently in place, we thought it would be a great opportunity to make a supporter's day, and I'm sure David will have a great day that he will never forget."
The Third Investec Test Match is England's first visit to Edgbaston since they defeated India last August and went to the top of the ICC Test Match world rankings. Edgbaston is also one of England's most popular home venues, having lost just one Test Match in Birmingham in the last 10 years.
Tickets are still available for the Third Investec Test Match, with savings of up to 70% for groups and tickets for under 16s just £1 on Day 1. Please logon to http://www.edgbaston.com/tickets to secure your seats or call the 24-hour ticket hotline on 0844 847 1902.
