Edgbaston Supports Tickets For Troops With Test Match Allocation

Edgbaston Stadium has reinforced its support for Her Majesty's Armed Forces after donating 3,000 tickets for the upcoming Investec Test Match between England and the West Indies through ticketing charity, Tickets For Troops.

Between Thursday 7 and Monday 11 June, Edgbaston is staging the Third Test of the Investec Series between England and the West Indies, and all serving members of HM Forces - and those medically discharged since the commencement of military action in Afghanistan in 2001 - are eligible to claim the allocation that have been provided for the first three days of play.

Colin Povey, Chief Executive of Edgbaston Stadium, said: "We take a great deal of pride in naming HM Forces as one of our partners here at Edgbaston. We supported Tickets For Troops at last year's Test Match between England and India, but wanted to give a bigger allocation this year, and are delighted that they've been so well received.

"The ticket donation for the Investec Test Match is the first of two major projects that we are undertaking with HM Armed Forces this summer. On Saturday 7 July we're staging a t20 fixture here at Edgbaston between a Combined Service XI and a team of Warwickshire Legends. The match falls in between the Warwickshire Bears Friends Life t20 fixtures against Gloucestershire Gladiators (Fri 6) and the Welsh Dragons (Sun 8), and we are doing a specially discounted weekend pass for all serving personnel."

The Investec Test Match is England's first visit to Edgbaston since defeating India last summer, which also took them to the top of the ICC Test Match World Rankings - a position that they still occupy and will maintain with victory against the West Indies.

Ross Barden, Director of Operations at Tickets For Troops, said: "Edgbaston creates a unique atmosphere on Test Match days that's different to every other UK cricket venue, and makes it one of the most appealing events in our sporting calendar.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer such a great allocation to members of HM Armed Forces and are very grateful to Edgbaston for their generosity. We're all looking forward to a great day out."
