Ravi Rampaul has been ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand, which begins on Thursday in Jamaica, with a groin injury. He has been replaced in the 13-man squad by Fidel Edwards. Tino Best is the other fast-bowler included in the squad who didn’t play during the hosts’ nine-wicket win in the first Test in Antigua.
Rampaul picked up four wickets during that Test, although he was comfortably out bowled by fellow fast-bowler Kemar Roach, who took five wickets in the second New Zealand innings.
If West Indies either draw or win the second Test it will give them their first series win against New Zealand since 1996.
West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Denesh Ramdin (vice-captain, wicket-keeper), Adrian Barath, Tino Best, Shiv Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Fidel Edwards, Assad Fudadin, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels.
