England have been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during the first Test against India in Chennai.

England lost the match by six wickets despite setting India 387 to win and they were ruled to be one over short by match referee Jeff Crowe. After the second Test in Mohali was drawn, India took the series 1-0 having also won the One Day International series 5-0.

In line with the ICC Code Of Conduct, the players were fined five percent of their match fee with captain Kevin Pietersen giving up 10 percent of his match fee.

The players were to give a portion of their match fees to help those affected by the Mumbai terror attacks.
