England have left James Anderson, Kevin Pietersen and Graeme Swann out of their One-Day International squad to play Australia in January.

Meanwhile, Alastair Cook, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Danny Briggs, Tim Bresnan and Stuart Broad are back in the squad having not featured in the recent ODI series between the two sides in September.

The first of five ODIs is in Melbourne on 12th January and the two sides also play three Twenty20 Internationals.

England have named a 16-man ODI squad and a 15-man Twenty20 International squad as they ahead to the ICC World Twenty20 2014 and 2015 World Cup.

With Swann absent, off-spinner James Tredwell and left-arm spinner Danny Briggs can look forward to opportunites while Chris Jordan and Boyd Rankin can expect to benefit from Anderson's omission.

"We have an important period of limited overs cricket coming up with an ICC World T20 in Bangladesh in March and we are just over a year away from the ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and Australia," NationaL Selector Geoff Miller said.

"These two series against Australia allow valuable opportunities for players to push for places in both squads and given the rivalry between the sides both series will no doubt be keenly contested."
