New Zealand XI 70-1 v England XI
Match abandoned
Twenty20 warm-up, Whangerai

England's opening warm-up game on their tour of New Zealand was abandoned after less than 10 overs and will be replayed tomorrow (5th February).

New Zealand XI had raced to 70 for one in 9.1 overs before the rain arrived and no further play was possible.

Hamish Rutherford made 21 in 15 balls before Chris Woakes had him caught by Stuart Broad and when the rain arrived, Anton Devcich (22 in 25 balls) and Tom Latham (23 in 15 balls) had put on 47 together for the second wicket.

England play the first of three Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand in Auckland on 9th February.

After Stuart Meaker was forced out of this game with a neck strain, England have added Middlesex fast bowler James Harris to their Twenty20 International squad as cover.
