England Visually Impaired Team Claims T20 Series Win

The England Visually Impaired cricket team claimed a 2-0 Twenty20 series victory over Australia. after the series was reduced to two fixtures after rain forced the first and fourth games to be abandoned.

The hosts dominated Australia in both games at Leamington Cricket Club, which saw Matt Dean hit an unbeaten century and Luke Sugg take 3-19 on the way to leading England to a 74-run victory in the first game of the day. Hampshire’s Andy Powers made light work of knocking off the runs in the second game, posting 82 as England wrapped things up with nine wickets to spare and claimed the series title.

England captain for the Twenty20 series, Luke Sugg said: “I’m delighted to win the T20 series. There have been some excellent contributions throughout both series. Andy Powers consistently performed and Matt Dean showed his experience with the bat. I was also pleased to be able to contribute and relished the role of captaining the side in the T20 series.

"It was a bit frustrating not to get all the games in as we don’t get together as a team that often, but there is nothing we can do about the weather.

"We’ll all go back to playing club Disability Cricket now and the England squad will come together again later in the year, before the Visually Impaired World Cup in India in December."
