The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed a 24-member squad for the training camp in United Arab Emirates as a part of the preparations for the upcoming ICC Women's World Cup to be held in June and July.
The squad captained by Heather Knight has 17 centrally contracted players along with seven players from Senior Academy that will feature in a number of inter-squad matches and also will take on Ireland in a three 50-over warm-up games.
England skipper Knight believes this will be an exciting opportunity for the team to prepare for the all important World Cup.
“This is an exciting step in the build-up to the World Cup. We’ve begun to show who we are as a side over the past year and we’ll continue to work hard and continue to progress.'
“We are looking forward to getting back outside and testing ourselves against Ireland. I’m sure there will be a few of the squad who will be keen to see who comes out on top when we play each other as well.”
Meanwhile, senior player Sarah Taylor has been omitted from the training camp after she decided to take an indefinite break from the game following stress-related issue.
England head coach Mark Robinson though confirmed she is still in contention to make it to the global event.
"Sarah Taylor is going really well at the moment and is back in training," Robinson said.
"Her return is a graduated one which is regularly reviewed as she works herself back to hopefully full fitness.
"There are no timescales in place for her, but her goal is still to give herself the best chance of being able to play in the World Cup."
