Essex Announce Side To Face Kent

Essex Eagles have named a 12-man squad for Friday night’s Twenty20 Cup match against Kent Spitfires at The Ford County Ground.

On-loan Martin Saggers is unavailable as he is ineligible to play against his ‘home’ county Kent so Tony Palladino and Varun Chopra are added to the side on duty in yesterday’s victory at home to Surrey Brown Caps.

Ravinder Bopara is still unavailable with a thigh injury (see the Fitness Bulletin on the ECCC website at www.essexcricket.org.uk for more injury updates) while Alastair Cook is away with England on international duty.

As with last night’s three-wicket win over Surrey, a change of playing regulations has been introduced for tonight’s game.

The ECB has agreed that an extra hour can be incorporated into the match in case of a weather interruption, meaning play can go on to 10.45pm.

This is a temporary regulation brought in as a result of the recent bad weather that has disrupted matches around the country.

Please note: this match is sold out.

The Prospects of Play line (08718 716166) will be updated from 2pm on the day ahead of the scheduled 7pm start.
