Essex Name Squad For Glamorgan Match

Essex have named a 13-man squad for their LV County Championship match against Glamorgan at Garon Park as the Essex Autogroup Southend Cricket Festival gets underway on Wednesday (July 30)

Kent have recalled Neil Dexter from his loan spell with Essex for their Championship match against Hampshire starting tomorrow, owing to a groin injury to Darren Stevens. Grant Flower comes in for Dexter in the Essex top order.

All-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate is unavailable as he is representing Netherlands in European Championship Division One in Ireland this week.

Essex Physio Peter Gettings issued the following Fitness Bulletin on Tuesday July 29:

Grant Flower was hit on the right hand during the warm-up ahead of Saturday’s Twenty20 Cup semi-final. Grant had an x-ray in Derby on Monday which showed there were no broken bones – just a ligament sprain. Nonetheless he was unavailable for selection on Monday but is available for this week’s Championship match.

Maurice Chambers has a left ankle capsulitis as a result of bowling. Maurice has seen a specialist and had an injection. We are now trying to gradually increase his bowling workload with coach Graeme Welch. Maurice is available to play in this week’s Championship match.
