Essex Name Squad For Pro40 Game At Grace Road

Essex Eagles have named a 13-man squad for their NatWest Pro40 match against Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road on Sunday (July 20).

Varun Chopra and Chris Wright are added to the XI on duty in Wednesday’s Pro40 victory against Yorkshire Carnegie at The Ford County Ground.

Opener Alastair Cook is unavailable due to his international commitments with England during their Test match against South Africa.

Essex have no injury problems going into their second one-day trip to Leicester this season, having beaten them in the Friends Provident Trophy in June.

Play is scheduled to start at 1.45pm.

First-Team Coach Paul Grayson told the Essex CCC website (www.essexcricket.org.uk):

“After beating Yorkshire in our opening NatWest Pro40 match (on Wednesday) we have continued our winning momentum – which is a nice place to be in. Our players are very focused and driven at the moment and all credit to them, they keep rising to the challenge. It can be difficult to keep moving backwards and forwards between competitions but the players have adapted extremely well.

“With the NatWest Pro40 ending next year it would be nice to end it playing in Division One. This competition has been good for us of late so it was disappointing last year when the momentum went the other way (and we were relegated). Our players want to win every match they play in – whatever the competiton – to keep this good run of ours going.”
