Essex Under-19 Girls To Play In Dubai

An exciting opportunity is on the horizon for some Essex's leading Under-19 female cricketers with a trip to Dubai in February 2013 to take part in the MCC U19 Women's Arch Trophy tournament.

The trip will consist of eight days in Dubai playing against a variety of other teams and an MCC side. This will be a very competitive tournament giving the players the best preparation for their season ahead.

Women and Girls Head Coach, Matt Hyam commented "This is a fantastic opportunity for our young, high potential girls to play competitive cricket outside the season in excellent surroundings and different conditions, it will allow the girls to see where they are in their cricket development."

This will be the first time that any Essex Women's or age group team has been on a trip like this. Dubai will offer different challenges for the girls to overcome, tours away from home present the girls with challenges they wouldn't normally come across playing in England including coping with weather conditions and being immersed in a team atmosphere.

The tour party will be an Emerging Players U19 Girls team who consist of players from age 14 through to 19. Some of the girls have been part of our Women's 1st XI squad already, and 2 are part of England Women Development Programme at U15 level.

We now have a huge task on our hands to raise the funds to enable the girls to attend the trip. So far the girls have planned various activities including a Quiz Night, high street collections in Chelmsford and Brentwood, car wash and a sponsored run / cycle.

The girls are pleased to have the support of the Essex Cricket Community Trust and former Essex Captain Ronnie Irani.
