Australia left-arm fast bowler James Faulkner has been fined 10 percent of his match fee after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third One-Day International against the West Indies in Canberra.
Faulkner was clearly seen giving Chris Gayle a verbal send-off after dismissing him in the 38th over, and he pleaded guilty to the charge levelled against him.
He was charged with a Level One breach of Article 2.1.4 which relates to "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting."
Match referee Ranjan Madugalle explained: "There is no place for this type of behavior anywhere near the game. The players are expected to respect the opponents all the time. In this particular incident, James crossed the line and I'm sure he will learn from this incident."
Australia went on to win the match by 39 runs after Faulkner, playing in just his third ODI, picked up figures of four for 48.
