England XI 219 (Bopara 73, Woakes 46no) beat
Hyderabad CA XI 163 (Finn 4-28) by 56 runs
Tour game, Hyderabad

Steven Finn took a hat-trick as England made a winning start to their tour of India with a 56-run success over a Hyderabad Cricket Association XI.

Finn ended Hyderabad's innings with three wickets in three balls to bowl the hosts out for 163 in reply to England's score of 219 all out in 47.2 overs.

The Middlesex man also removed Hyderabad captain Dwaraka Ravi Teja for one to return figures of four for 28.

England reached a score they comfortably defended despite their top order failing to fire. Alastair Cook (6), Jonathan Trott (7), Kevin Pietersen (16) and Ian Bell (4) all fell cheaply before 73 in 82 balls from Ravi Bopara helped them get back on track.

He was supported by 15 from Jonathan Bairstow and 20 from Samit Patel before Chris Woakes made an unbeaten 46 to help England finish strongly.

Arjun Yadav (47) was the only Hyderabad batsman to offer much resistance as England's display in the field was too strong for their opponents.

Woakes completed a good day with a brace of wickets as Jade Dernbach and Patel took one apiece prior to Finn removing Amol Shinde (25), Pagadala Naidu (0) and AA Ahmed (0) to complete the victory.

England play the HCA XI again on 11th October before they begin a five-match One-Day International series against India on 14th October.
