As the first of the four-match Test series between India and Australia kicked-off in Pune on Thursday, Chetan Narula gives us an insight on all the action from day one.
Chetan believes the toss won by Steven Smith was decisive for Australia with the pitch crumbling right on the first day and the first innings total will be crucial to their fortunes in the game.
After a promising start of 82 runs for the opening wicket, the visitors collapsed to 205 for nine with Matt Renshaw showing a lot of resilience with a 68-run knock.
Just when a dominating bowling performance led by Umesh Yadav's four-wicket haul had Australia in deep trouble, Mitchell Starc responded with a blistering half-century and was well supported by Josh Hazlewood to take them to 256 for nine at stumps.
According to Chetan, a 300+ total will help Australia pose a serious challenge to the strong batting line-up of India.
