Young pace bowlers Luke Fletcher and Andy Carter have both signed new two-year contracts with Nottinghamshire after fine 2009 seasons, Fletcher taking 29 LV County Championship wickets and Carter being named Second XI Player Of The Year.
“Both players have made significant progress over the past 12 months and they will continue to improve throughout the term of these new deals,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“Luke has shown that he is able to make an impact in all forms of the game and he should be aiming to become a regular first team fixture.
“Andy has always had raw pace but he is honing that now and his performances in the Second Eleven have been exceptional.”
“In all honesty I surprised myself this season because I hadn’t expected to feature as prominently as I did,” said Fletcher.
“Next season will be important for me but I’ll just stick to the basics and try to maintain my accuracy and consistency.”
“Competition for places is tough but I’ll work hard throughout the winter to put myself in the frame,” said Carter.
“We’ve made some good signings and I want to be involved in the new campaign.”
