Flintoff Hopes For Better Weather In Liverpool

Andrew Flintoff will be hoping for dry weather this weekend to enable him to make his much anticipated return to cricket.

Flintoff was scheduled to make his return in the Club’s 2ndXI’s Championship match at Blackpool this week, but a waterlogged outfield forced the fixture to be abandoned.

Cricket Manager Mike Watkinson has named a strong Lancashire squad to play Sri Lanka A in a Limited Over’s friendly at Liverpool Cricket Club on Sunday (29/7), which includes Andrew Flintoff and Sajid Mahmood, who is also only two games back from a hernia operation.

Lancashire’s season has been badly affected by the extraordinary summer weather, and this match is a great opportunity for players to get much needed time playing cricket ahead of the important LV County Championship match against Sussex CCC next week.

Lancashire’s squad for Sri Lanka A fixture: Iain Sutcliffe, Mark Chilton (cpt), Paul Horton, Brad Hodge, Andrew Flintoff, Steven Croft, Luke Sutton (wkt), Simon Marshall, Tom Smith, Gary Keedy, Oliver Newby, Sajid Mahmood

This match will be played at Liverpool Cricket Club, Aigburth Road, Aigburth, L19 3QF and is scheduled to start at 10:45am. Admission is FREE.
