Northants Cricket Chief Executive, Mark Tagg, has today revealed that the six state of the art floodlights are up and ready to ‘brighten’ matches played here at the County Ground.
Each standing at an impressive 48 metres, they signal the completion of another phase in the County Ground’s development, one to make the County Ground the best in the country.
With 408 lights around the pitch, supporters will hope that the Steelbacks’ performances are ‘illuminated’ as they battle their way to glory in the Friends Provident t20 and Clydesdale Bank 40 competitions.
Mark Tagg said of the completion, “This is the end of a long road to get these floodlights in place, and with all midweek Clydesdale Bank 40 and Friends Provident t20 matches taking place under our new lights, we hope it brings our supporters another level of enjoyment, by increasing the ‘Spectacle’ of these games.”
“I can’t wait for the first game to be played under these floodlights, which is against Derbyshire on Friday 7th May. Let’s hope the team can put on some ‘bright’ displays this coming season.”
