Andy Flower Set To Run London Marathon For The Lord's Taverners

England Cricket Coach, Andy Flower is set to run the 2012 London Marathon for The Lord’s Taverners on 22 April. The Zimbabwean, who has brought home 2 Ashes victories and helped England become the top ranked Test team during his three years in charge, is looking to raise money to help give young people with special needs a sporting chance.

Andy will be joined on the day by Simon Woodard, a member of The Lord’s Taverners who is taking on the unenviable task of running the London Marathon in full cricket kit to raise money for the charity, as well as attempting to set a new Guinness world record.

The Lord’s Taverners is one of the UK’s leading youth sports and disability charities. Last year the charity donated over £3.25 million to help give young people, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance.

All money raised by the England coach will be shared by the Lord Taverners, Hope for Children, a charity helping disabled, orphaned, poor and exploited children, and Factor 50, a patient support group for those who suffer from skin cancer.

Andy Flower, Head Coach of the England Cricket Team, said: “These are all fantastic causes and I want to do my bit to help. I’ll be doing as much as can to get cash from the England players - and I need your support, too.”
