When there is any discussion about the best teams ever, the 1972 Australian team always comes up and I'm not sure why. I know they had 2 fantastic bowlers and a great captain and a few useful batsman but they drew that ashes year. Why were they rated so highly?

So just how can a side that drew the Ashes be
great? They were ordinary - it was in '74 that Thommo and Lillee
hospitalised practically the whole touring English side and won the
Ashes in a canter.
