Not sure if it will ever be beaten, to be honest.

I mentioned this on a thread about Ponting. I think he has as good a chance as anyone of geting it. I definately think it will have to be an aggressive batsman. Maybe Flintoff perhaps?

I can't see anyone being allowed to bat that long. Even Hayden's 380 against Zimbabwe was lucky as Ponting was going to declare regardless of whether he got the record or not. Can't see Flintoff being able to bat that long. If Sehwag got stuck in against Bangladesh or someone he might be able to get it as he's pretty aggressive.

Definetly not Flintoff! He bats too low in the order! I don't think any guy that bats at no.6 or lower will make 400!

i think its going to be one of the following Younis khan, ponting, sehwaq and maybe sangakarra! but i wouldnt hold my breath...it could be a decade or two before it even happens, thats if it does!

i very much doubt it will ever be beaten.... it would A) take to long, and B) would almost certainly cause a draw, unless of course the other team collapsed twice, but thats not gonna happen if the wicket is that good to bat on

5-0 You Beauty!!!!!

Thanks for the many fantastic memories Marto, Langer, Warney & Pidg

I don't think it will be beaten unless Ponting does it soon as he is in the form of his life. An in form Vaughn is capable but shot selection may let him down. He showed his class last time out in Oz making two 190+ that form against Zim or Bang could get him there
Great start Notts keep it up!!!

I can't see Vaughan doing it, he'd declare on himself - look at the matches against Bangladesh, he declared both times when only 3 wickets or so were down, for example, who knows, Bell might have gone on to score 200-300 had he not declared. I don't think he'd let himself bat long enough.

I doubt anyone batting from 4-11 they can score 400 only an opener or no.3 batsman would score 400 so if any of the current players could score 400 its probably sehwag if he gets back in form and plays against zimbabwe or bangladesh or maybe lara again if he gets himself back in form lara once said he reckons the only player capable of passing hes 400 is gayle then a couple of weeks layer he scored 317 against south africa

Steve Waugh was the skipper back then matey, anyway Australia are far superior to Zim and Hayden was scoring fast so it wasnt an issue. Lara's 400 was selfish, but to WI a draw is as good as a win. England have been unlucky having to face 375 and 400 from LAra. It was a very selfish innings and Ponting would not do that unless it was early 1st day and he finished half way through next day,, For mine no one will beat 'cept Ponting or a really bersurk inning by a slogger.

Ooh, look at this, guess where the first West Indies v India Test is being held:

1st Test - Antigua Records Ground
2-6 June

West Indies win the toss, Gayle has a chance. India win the toss, Sehwag has a chance.

Yes, of course it was Waugh, not Ponting who was going to declare.

india have a bad record in the carribean so west indies might even win west indies really good in the third test against new zealand especially morton who once was expelled from from the west indian cricket academy in july 2001,for a series of regulation breaches  and then pulled out of the icc champions trophy in 2002,after lying about the death of his grandmother then he was arrested in january 2004,following a stabbing incident other then that it should be a draw

by the way lara and 6 other canidtaes are in the running to be captian if lara does get the job again it would be the 3rd time he has been dropped from the captaincy then reggained it surely thats a record the other 6 are sarwan, gayle, ganga, ramdin, sylvester joseph and wavel hinds i don't see hinds getting the captaincy cause hes barely in the test side, joseph hardly ever gets a game, ramdin is too young to handle the pressure  so it comes down to 3 of your top 5 brest players sarwan, gayle  and lara

i think sehwag will come good against windies and will get a 200+ score against themn in the first test, i no i sound crazy, but he has a knack of doing this, being out of form comeing off a terrible series and then pounding out a huge score in the opener of a series

I cant see the record being beaten, the batsman that might come near to the record are sehwag, pointing, younis khan or gibbs

It could beDhoni.Because he p;ays sensible game as well as quick.has the potential to make big scores .but only if he comes at no. 3 or opening

Sachin - I can't see Dhoni having the patience to score that many in one innings.

I'd say one of the upcoming stars Michael Hussey or Sangakara

The West Indies have a weak bowling attack so maybe Sehwag or Dravid could get close

But I don't see it being beaten, a batsman getting 300 or even 250 plus seems very unlikely
