Possible trouble on the horizon for Lancashire today if the powers
that be decide that the pitch at Blackpool for their current game
against Durham is substandard.
The score suggests it is because 18 wickets fell on day 1 for just over 300 runs. Durham were dismissed for 166 after being at 90-1 and Lancashire , at the close were still in arrears on 137-8. The wicket had variable bounce and whilst a result will give both sides a run at the title , a verdict of "poor" will earn Lancashire an 8 points deduction - surely fatal to their championship aspirations. Fingers crossed Lancs supporters! Edited by Sledger - 07 September 2007 at 10:02am |

Ramps is unstoppable, what a hero, I wish his 175 had been at the oval.

Worcestershire were tonight crowned NatWest Pro40 champions - and after all that happened to them with the ground flooding and all the problems that caused, that's a huge boost for them. Quite fitting that they won the title away from home, in Bristol.
Meanwhile, five teams could theoretically win the County title, with Lancashire six points clear at the top with Sussex, Durham, Yorkshire and Hampshire close behind. Kent saved themselves with victory over Hampshire while Warwickshire and Worcestershire are relegated. |

Just found out today that VVS Laxman is playing for Lanscahsire.
He scored a ton. Lans has been my only county team and i am proud to see VVS in the squad.
When did VVS joined Lans county club?

Mid-July mate, although he had to wait for the Tests to finish before he could start playing.

Well this is the first time I posted on this thread.
Oh another question jp, Do they give 2 runs for a no ball in the 4 day tournament because on my cricket game they do?

Thanks, so why does the game give 2 runs when I am playing county cricket on the game. Fishy, is it 2 or a run in the 50/40 overs.

It's just one run in the 40 over stuff as well. I dunno why your game doesn that mate, maybe it's to help people like you who can't score many by themself....

Well said.
And it stupid game doesn't give a free hit in the 20/20 version and this game is cricket 07.
Another piece of crop is that the game has only 4 overs of powerplay in the 20/20 version.

Crunch time in the County Championship as the final 4 day matches get
underway today. Lancashire can secure their 1st win since 1934
(they shared it with Surrey in 1950 , but that's not the same!) if they
win at The Oval against Surrey.
6 points behind are Sussex , followed 2.5pts further back , Durham. Sussex host relegated Worcester , whilst Durham take on Kent in Canterbury. It's a tough ask beating Surrey at The Oval with Mark Ramprakash averaging 90 this season , but a draw is unlikely to be enough. Sussex must fancy winning against Worcester , Durham might find winning at Canterbury a tad difficult with such a fine batting track. So it's attack , attack , attack for the Lancastrians and get that monkey off their backs !!! Goooooooooooooo Lancs !!!!!!!!!! |

do you think Lancs will struggle having to play on an un-doctored pitch for the first time in a few weeks?

Oooooooooooooooh!! Give 'em a break Clobs , it's hardly stopped
raining in Manchester for the past 73 years , they need a lil
assistence!
Having said that , I bet it's a featherbed at the Oval! |

Mixed feelings after looking at the scores in the big games - make your own minds up...
Surrey* 102-2 at lunch after 35 overs , Ramps 43* against Lancs Kent * 50-4 after 19 overs against a rampant Durham Sussex * 135-0 at lunch after 33 overs against relegated Worcs.... * shows who won the toss Sussex flying , Durham bouyant and Lancashire needing some wickets ! |

it hasn't got a whole lot better as the day has gone on with Durham grabbing their bowling points, Sussex looking very strong for a good haul in theirs and that man Ramprakash racking up the inevitable ton

I was lucky enough to see Ramps's innings today at the Oval, took a sneaky day off work in the morning when I found out Surrey were batting. It was driving at its best. Almost every shot went where he wanted it too and he is honestly the best straight driver I have ever seen with the exception of Tendulkar. People say it's because The Oval is such a good pitch that he gets all these huge totals but today, the second highest score was 51.

It's looking like the Lancashire jinx is alive and well , I just can't see them winning from this position.
Then again , it could rain for three days throughout the country - that'd cheer me up! |

My depression deepens! I've just read a report on the Lancs match
and Ramprakash should've been run out without scoring ! He's on
180* and looks like he'll bat until Christmas now.......
.........there's always next season. |

oooh I know...get the keeper and slips to hum a foxtrot as the bowler runs in - it'll play havoc with Ramps' footwork

didn't know you were a Lancs fan Sledger? I'm pretty gutted he missed out on his double. Still good knock though and I hope he scores 104 in the second innings.

Durham need 52 to win their game, meaning Lancashire have to win to stop Durham completing a treble - County Championship, Pro40 Division Two, and the FP Trophy.
