Yeah I agree Clobber I can see him, Tresco, Hildreth and White all easily eclipsing 1000 runs.

Notice "selfless" Darren Gough scarcely bowled an over while the batsmen went well, then as soon as the tail were in brought himself back on to bag a couple of cheap wickets

Just returned from the play at Taunton today, due to other commitments I only got down there 25 overs into the Somerset innings but it was a game well worth watching. A name for the future is Craig Kieswetter, he played brilliantly to score 69 coming in when Somerset were on 180-6 and got them up to 310-9. He also took an absolutely stunning catch to get rid of Alex Wharf the pinch-hitter for just three. Peter Trego took 4-54 and bowled very well on another great batting track. For Simon Jones fans you'll be pleased to know he took 3 wickets today and looked in good form. Glamorgan started badly and slipped to 39-3 but recovered and had a shot at victory before two wickets in two balls from Trego and caddiŁk respectively took the game away from them, a good match. Somerset eventually won by 24 runs as Glamorgan racke dup 286-8. Also new player Mark Turner seems to be the Monty of Somerset as far as support goes, however he bowled reasonably well and only went for over 60 runs because Robert Croft decided to slog everything at the end when there was really no chance of victory, but he didn't field a lot so you can't say he's a carbon copy of Monty.
However in comparison the whole Glamorgan team fielded like Monty's, Davies went head first into the crowd twice in two balls and they didn't really try to catch skied balls when a little bit of running would've got them out. The only skied catch they took didn't count because it was a no ball.
Good game though, and hopefully plenty more like that to come during the long season ahead.
P.S. At least Somerset gave me something to cheer about when you consider Lancashire's abysmal performance earlier today.

Let's hope that this good run from Somerset isn't the usual false dawn.

Grace Road:
Somerset 357 (84.4 overs) PS Jones 114!, Trescothick 77, caddiŁk 51!, Masters 6-60
Leicestershire 58-3 (17 overs) Robinson 26*, Maunders 26, Willoughby 3-10
Blimey, great recovery from the Sabres after they went from 71-5 at one stage to end up on 357, with Trescothick continuing his good form with 77 from 128 balls, however what has got to be more impressive is the 146 run 9th wicket partnership between Steffan Jones and Andy caddiŁk, Jones amazingly scored 114 and caddiŁk 51, talk about a tail-end recovery. Willoughby also bowled excellently to take 3-10 from 6 overs.
Lancashire are playing Durham Uni today and Durham Uni are 298-6 from 104 overs, hopefully the tail will be cleared up fairly early in the morning and Lancashire can then put up a good total in reply.
Clobs did you get down to Grace Down today, if so can you report on the action today down there?

It's never too much fun the bowlers when they come to the oval, the pitch seems to permanently provide stacks of runs.

I don't know, but they're never far out at the oval for a one dayer, and they're ridiculously close to the players for the T20. Gives your average cricket watcher what they want though.

Vaughan's back in form all of a sudden, and Alastair Cook is unbeaten on 80 at lunch.
Seems a good day to be batting nearly everywhere. http://www.cricketworld.com/england/county/article/?aid=11188 |

Unusual to have such a dry start to the season. Perhaps this will mean less washouts and the best teams will win

And of course Will Jefferson is still to come in. And as most if not all of the top half have got a century already this season, so it is certainly going to be interesting

I said before start of play today that Katich would score a double century at Taunton...
...he's on 132 at the moment. |
