It's very easy to pick on Phillip Hughes isn't it...

Probably, but I don't think it'll ruin Hughes career!

Too sensitive lad , you'd struggle to handle the barbs in the average English pub. |

I just think it's a daft comparison between the two lads. Arrogance like that would not be met well anywhere in Australia, better yet a pub.

Never dished anything out about James Taylor. I said he looks a superb talent and that he could be England's answer to India's Sachin or WI's Lara with this kind of early brilliance.

I'd make a big gamble and say he'd never be a Lara. Those English focus too much on text book style!

Yer Lara's too special. England haven't produced anyone close to his ability for decades.

Lara was an entertainer, I won't mind people saying Tendulkar is better than him but Lara is far more exciting to watch when he's batting well. You don't get those stuff by being 100% a text book player!

That's where you look at all the really great players to watch. From the 90s I think of Klusener, Cairns, Lara, Adam Gilchrist, Jayasuriya and guys like that. Best batsmen to watch when on song and most of those guys were certainly unorthodox at times.

Hoggard moves to Leicestershire then, which was widely anticipated, but as captain, which certainly wasn't. He doesn't strike me as a great thinker, but it's a chance for him to prove a few points.
With him, Will Jefferson and Andrew McDonald adding experience to the array of talented youngsters at the club, I am feeling more positive about a new season than I have in a good few years. |

He has a few years left in him, it's good he's looked for an opportunity elsewhere rather than quitting the game altogether.

More excellent news from Grace Road in the announcement that Brad Hodge is coming back to Leics to play in this season's Twenty20 cup. He led the side to their first T20 title in 2004, and is a club legend, having scored 3 of the 6 highest individual scores in the county's history in just 2 seasons.

Did Hoggard have any influence on his return Clobs? A good move anyway and hopefully you'l see your lads win a couple!

I don't think Hoggard has really had much to do with club matters yet - I heard him on the radio the other week saying he hadn't met any of the players yet for example.
I suspect it is more a case of finding that second overseas player who isn't going to cost the earth, and the fact he has already been here and done brilliantly is just a bonus. |

That makes sense. Hoggy has been photographed a number of times out here enjoying a pint with the Barmy Army.
I just hope the snow's stopped before your 1st match ! |

The counties are all trying to outdo each other with big signings for the Twenty20 Cup - Hampshire bringing in Afridi, Glamorgan signing Shaun Tait and Somerset bringing back Cameron White to join Murali Kartik and Kieron Pollard.
That's without mentioning Middlesex's capture of Adam Gilchrist although they missed out on Sachin Tendulkar. Phil Jaques is coming back to New Road and he'll be sharing overseas dutiies with Shakib Al Hasan and Stuart Clark is due to play for Kent. |

So Herschelle Gibbs signs for Yorkshire for the T20 competition. He'll miss the first two matches , but will be available for the final 10. He's no spring chicken now , but he still fields brilliantly and has the ability to win matches singlehandedly with the bat. The pubs will welcome him as well !
