    Posted: 12 March 2006 at 12:29pm

Congratulations to the Australian Team, in particular Captain Ricky Ponting for being the 1st ever team to Make over 400 in a One Day International...

Ponting Scored 164 (13 fours, 9 sixes) from 105 balls in a total of 433/4 at the Wanderers ground in South Africa... He was aptly supported by Mike Hussey (80 from 56, 9 fours, 3 sixes) and Simon Katich (79 from 90)...

Congratulations guys.. excellent effort.... only fitting that the Number 1 team and the Number 1 Batsmen break the once unthinkable barrier of 400....

GO AUSSIE GO

ps. for those who can't tell, i'm stoked

If Jaques was there, wow, he is like Gilly...he gets runs consistently, and very quicky. He has tasted both forms of teh game internationally and should be in test squad ahead of Martyn.

you cannot say that aus would of got 450 or more, because if katich had got out earlier and not stayed in you would never know what might of happened to aus they could of just completely collapsed. however i dont know y people are complaining because katich played a important role in helping aus be the first team to get over 400 in an ODI

Yes Katich is an anchor, if he is batting with a guy who is scoring at a rate of 150 runs/100 balls then all he has to do is support, doing that with 79 at an SR of 87 is superb.

Kudos KAto...he is consistent, give the bloke a break, I just feel Jaques and he can both play in the team.

Katich may be a slow scorer compared to some in ODIs, but he has scored a lot of ODI runs so well done to him.

I know, that's why I'm saying he is a very good ODI player, as shown by how many runs he has scored this series and others.

County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

So Ponting is Australia's best batsmen and bowler? Is there anything he can't do?

Someone told earlier in another thread "who ever next plays Zimbabwe or Bangladesh on a flat track". Why u guys always bring Bangladesh in such discussions? I have no problem now if Aussies score 400 against us in the coming series , though I think it would be difficult for them as no test playing country has scored more than 350 against us, actually there are very few scores above 300 against Bangladesh.
