    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.cricketworld.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=271">flipper</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 5082<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 11 February 2011 at 3:29pm<br /><br /><DIV></DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV><P style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt" =Ms&#111;normal><FONT size=3><FONT color=#000000><FONT face="Times New Roman"><?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="&#111;n">Yorkshire</st1:place> will inform members on Saturday 19<SUP>th</SUP> march that in 2010 it generated a turnover of £5.6m and a pre-tax deficit of £2.0m.</P><DIV><P><strong>Despite the One-Day International in September being a sell-out, and the Yorkshire team having a successful season on the pitch, the low level of ticket sales for the MCC Spirit of Cricket Test Match between Pakistan and Australia resulted in a loss that the Club could not turn around.</strong><?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></P><P><strong>The Club is extremely disappointed with the low turnout at the Test Match, where less than 25% of the ground's 16,000 seats were sold.</strong><o:p></o:p></P><P><strong>Yorkshire chairman, Colin Graves, said:</strong> "The neutral Test Match in July between <st1:country-regi&#111;n w:st="&#111;n">Pakistan</st1:country-regi&#111;n> and <st1:country-regi&#111;n w:st="&#111;n"><st1:place w:st="&#111;n">Australia</st1:place></st1:country-regi&#111;n> was an operational success which provided much relevant learning for the game in staging such neutral matches in this country, but nevertheless created some significant financial challenges for the Club which we had to take appropriate actions to remedy."<o:p></o:p></P><P>Non Test Match related income and expenditure were broadly in line with budget, and advance sales of tickets and hospitality packages for the 2nd NatWest One-Day International between England and Sri Lanka which is being held on 1 July, are comfortably exceeding expectations following England's Ashes success this winter. On the back of an excellent season on the pitch for <st1:place w:st="&#111;n">Yorkshire</st1:place> in 2010, membership numbers for the 2011 season are also very positive and are currently running ahead of the same time last year.<o:p></o:p></P><P><strong>2011 will be a tough year for the Club, with only one day of international cricket, and a deficit is budgeted for, although substantially lower than the one recorded in 2010. However, the return of a full schedule of <st1:country-regi&#111;n w:st="&#111;n"><st1:place w:st="&#111;n">England</st1:place></st1:country-regi&#111;n> Test Match and One-Day International each year from 2012 to 2019 inclusive will bring the Club back into sustained profitability from 2012 onwards.</strong><o:p></o:p></P><P>The Club had a number of positive results in 2010, with the Club ending the season third in the <st1:place w:st="&#111;n"><st1:Place w:st="&#111;n">County</st1:place> <st1:PlaceName w:st="&#111;n">Championship</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>, and semi-finalists in the 40-over League. In addition, the new Carnegie Pavilion was opened in July. At a cost of £21m, funded with the support of both <st1:place w:st="&#111;n"><st1:PlaceName w:st="&#111;n">Leeds</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="&#111;n">Metropolitan</st1:PlaceName> <st1:Place w:st="&#111;n">University</st1:place></st1:place> and Yorkshire Forward, the Pavilion features state-of-the-art media facilities and a new upper tier of exclusive seats and hospitality facilities. The building is being operated in partnership with <st1:place w:st="&#111;n"><st1:PlaceName w:st="&#111;n">Leeds</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="&#111;n">Metropolitan</st1:PlaceName> <st1:Place w:st="&#111;n">University</st1:place></st1:place> and is already housing some 800 students during term time, studying Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management as well as Digital Journalism.<o:p></o:p></P><P><strong>The Club is looking forward to a successful season on and off the field in 2011, with Yorkshire's <st1:City w:st="&#111;n">LV</st1:City>= <st1:place w:st="&#111;n"><st1:Place w:st="&#111;n">County</st1:place> <st1:PlaceName w:st="&#111;n">Championship</st1:PlaceName></st1:place> campaign starting on 8 April against Worcestershire at <st1:address w:st="&#111;n"><st1:Street w:st="&#111;n">New Road</st1:Street>, <st1:City w:st="&#111;n">Worcester</st1:City></st1:address>.</strong><o:p></o:p></P></DIV></FONT></FONT></FONT></DIV>]]>

It's a while since the club has actually made any money over the course of a year so this isn't going to go away in a hurry, and the ECB might end up having to dip into its vast coffers to keep Leics afloat if things don't show some sign of improvement in the near future.]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.cricketworld.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=739">Clobber</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 5082<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 14 April 2010 at 6:56pm<br /><br />Modesty prevented me from opening a thread on this for the very reason it would have been all Leics Leics Leics! for the opening post!<br><br>Apart from the minor wobble chasing down a small total on the final day, it could scarcely have gone much better, and especially pleasing to see Titch start his second season in much the same vein as the last one (apart from the tossing away the 100 that was there for the taking part!).<br><br>I am sure Steven Finn and Chris Rogers was delighted with their own performances in their respective matches too, even if only one of them ended up on the winning side.<br><br>For those interested in such things, you can view highlights online for all the county championship matches, I think via the ECB website, which is a nice addition, even if it is only single camera coverage.<br>]]>
