I really like this lad Gambhir, he has worked hard and kept determine to reach this far, after being constantly over looked at the youth level even though performing better than some.
 
He had a little stint in the side, went out and cameback better.  A very fine player of spin for an opener.  Clarke plays spin well and can handle the fast stuff too.  ABD is one of the rare SA who plays spin decently haha and JP too.

Clarke has already established himself. He is probably the finest among the three you named. I really hate these player discussion and player comparison threads, so glad none of the usual members bring them up. So boring and pointless.

It's as simple as this. Unless you were born before 1920 Sachin Tendulkar is probably the best batsman you have ever seen. If not him, then it's Sobers, Headley, Pollock or Viv Richards. Ponting is a distant 10th.

Yes I quite agree with the results of this poll. The only three batsmen who could be considered as the greatest in the game today are the three with the most votes. Yousaf, ponting and tendy. Tendy however has dropped a cog or two where as yousaf and ponting are still playing at an optimum level. For mine ponting slightly nudges out yousaf with tendy coming in third. Just because Mohammad Yousuf hasn't play Australia all here dosen't mean it dosen't make him 2nd best to Ponting. Plus it's not his fault he didn't get to play Australia he was a role what makes you think he couldn't do it against Australia. He's never been in this kind of form now that he is he would most likely be hitting gorgeous drives off Clark,Lee and co now that Warne & McGrath are gone.
Warne & McGrath weren't in the best of form this year so I think he would have played them well.

Yusuf undoubtadly scored best in tests. Look how average he is in ODI's. Best would be a toss between Ricky Ponting and Sangakkara, both scoring over 1000 runs in both forms of cricket.

Why Gilchrist and Sangakara not featured in the list, last few weeks they have been phenomenal , the best part both are technically sound and consistently entertaining and thats my idea of best batsmen. I just want to tell some people that this thread is on players playing at the moment and not their career statistics.

I'd go for Yousuf anyday. His form has been terrific and he has been doing a twitch better than Ponting. To tell the truth lightining quick, remove everybody else from the list as they don't even stand a choice. sachin is the best forever.veerus bat is all over the place.in odis and tests he has become a nightmare for india.he needs to go back to ranji trophy and hit the poor quickies in those flat tracks.that might help him to get back his form
