He probable refferes to the one off Chaminda Vaas, stumping Lara during the 2007 WC, or was it? It was a good stumping i will admit, but the best everShocked, I dont know about that one. And any way, Boucher deserves a mention as a Keeper ofcourse, but this thread is about the best keeping-batsman, and Gilcrist is by far the best. Boucher's hands are reliable mates, more that those of Gilcrist, and I would even go on to say MacCullum was in the same league as Gilcrist with regard to the gloves. So 4 me it is, Gilchrist given the equlibbum between his keeping and batting, then becoz Sagakkara has been such a batsman for Sri Lanka he should come 2nd, and then Boucher. Do you remember the best stumping Sangakkara took in the 2003 World Cup --- that's right he missed it, and Australia won the semi final.
 
He is a rubbish keeper. McCullem is miles ahead witht he gloves. He is not too shabby with the bat , IPL he's was awesome , against Australia he has been very good too which is a big thing.
Sangakkara if he kept wicket again would have a significant batting test average decrease.. no doubt.
I'm so glad people see how crap his keeping is.
Him and Gilly are not comparable, even Flower gave up the gloves. Different between these 3 for instance is that Gilly was always a keeper 1st, Kumar and Andy's batting kept them in the team not the other way around.

I'm pretty sure McCullum is miles ahead of Sangakarra as a keeper, although of course he (sangakarra) doesn't keep anymore. Keeping isn't just taking the ball when its been bowled, also from outfield throws, and my memories of sangakarra are of him stoping/'collecting' throws with his pads and delivered balls going straight through his gloves standing back.

Over here in Australia, Don Tallon, Wally Grout (extremely highly regarded by Bradman), Rod Marsh and Ian Healy are denoted as the best we've produced.
I'd say Knott is argubly the best, although Healy did keep rather marvellously to Warne (although I'm sure Knott wouldn't have been too bad!).

Sanga stopped keeping, and then his batting improved, hence he won't keep again. He was never any good and made a lot of crucial mistakes.
 
Gilly could hold his spot on the team for both his batting and keeping, and he always did a good job to both spin and pace. Only at the end his keeping began to wane off, but then again he was getting older and he did retire obviously for that reason among others.

My pick goes with McCullum. Over the past six months hes showed much improvement with the bat, which was the lacking factor in previous years. Hes become a lot more consistent, we've seen this in the england series in NZ. Hes the next Gilchrist!
 
His keeping has always been top-class.

Well...i dont think you have seen that much of Healy to advocate him mate!!! I never saw much of allon knott and therefore kept my comments limited to the keepers i have seen.
 
Healy was very good but there is something you call a born wicket-keeper. And i saw that thing in JAck Russell, Nixon and Latif. Call it comedy, but they really were fine fine keepers
