It might be a good idea to start bowling some medium pace whilst concentrating on your batting. That way when you do decide to give up the gloves the rest of your game will be in tune.

    Author: kookagenesis
Subject: 4033
Posted: 23 July 2007 at 11:06pm

Hi, I'm a wicket keeper, age 16, and although I have safe hands and quick reflexes I have been told that I should quit keeping because I'm too big for a keeper (6 ft 2 and 14 stone)

The problem is, I've got far better hands and vision than the other kid who wants to keep, but am not as agile (in the sense of diving to get leg-side balls etc.), as he's about 5 ft 5 and 8 or 9 stone, really small guy.

What do you think? Should I just concentrate on batting? The reason I'm asking is because blokes like Gilchrist and Prior aren't small and seem to be good keepers- I don't want to give up but I'm worried that my coach is right.

Any advice?
