Height can be a factor in those things but what makes you great is the natural talent that you have. Tendulkar's insticts are probably quicker than others and that's why it looks as if he has the world of time to hit a ball. Height doesn't really make you a better pacer but it gives you the advantage of bounce. Marshall was small but combines speed and swing. Kumble is tall and uses his high realease to generate steepling bounce. What RHB is saying is right in that smaller batsmen have less trouble deeling with line/length but taller batsmen do tend to be able to put more power in to their shots off the front foot (height increasing velocity of bat=ball goes further). Taller batsmen also have the adv of a longer reach. Look at Sachin Tendulkar, or Don Bradman, or Lara, or Ponting, or Gavaskar. They're not even 1.8m, so I don't believe what I've said is rubbish. A batsman and bowler have different biomechanics, or whatever the word is.

You'd prefer a bowler to be taller, and have longer arms than a batsman. The Little Master Sachin is only 1.68m and he's always in position earlier than any other batsman, it's because of his short levers, and those short movements which he can use to his advantage to get into position quicker, therfore having more time when batting.

it's better to be small as a spin bowler because there will be more you can do with flight etc...
As a pacer, it's definite advantage to be tall (6ft+). If you're short, you should become a batsman and make good use of your 'levers' to get into position quickly when facing the bowler. I have just started putting alot of time and effort into some fast bowling. No idea what speed i'm bowling at but its not slow. Hoping to build on that and add in all the variations to prove that someone slightly less then 6ft is capable of it in England/Australia. It is not just the bounce, with a fast bowler when they are bowling full, the ball stays higehr in the air and can gain more movement in the air. Being tall also means you do not have to be as fast because you get the bounce, therefore being tall you do not need to use as much as strength and strain yourself.

Yes being a tall spinner can have some advantages, but mostly disadvantages. Being a tall spinner may get you bounce, but it will make it hard for it to dip low, instead it will bouncer normally if you know what I mean. It is easier to read a tall spinner as the ball takes longer for it to pitch on the ground, and the batmen has time to read the variation of the ball before it pitches on tio the ground. (exception for ANil kumble bcuz hes still great even though he is tall)

I remember seeing Malcolm Marshall rip out Gavaskar's off stump in the (bi?)centennial test at Lords - He was serious quick and normal size too. well i think being tall doenst helkp spin that much. the ball will go straight down, and you will have to bowl it flat, or toss it up and bowl slow to make it loop.

i think you should try the malinga action in the orthodox position. Instead of side arm you should bowl strait down but keep the sling like action. I think you will gain more speed than you wouldbowling orthodox.
