I think you need to put a higher price on your wicket. When you get into your 20's put the big shots away. don't look for boundaries instead pick up 1's and 2's. There's no shame in rotating the strike. Even if the guy at the other end is playing a Gilchrist/Afridi type innings just play your own game.

I too used to get out in the 20's and 30's a lot. Now i use this period to build an innings by accumilating 1's & 2's. Its something that comes to most players with experience.

Thank you very much for all your advice folks I shall try to apply all these tactics next season so I can achieve my target of 300 runs.

I struggled lastseason always getting out in the twenties, when I was feeling relaxed andcomfortable. The way I got round it was (and it is a LOT easier said than done)is just to forget about the score. Get into the mindset that you can be out on1 as easily as 100 and then the score becomes irrelevant because you arebatting to stay there, concentrate, I mean really concentrate on every balltalk to yourself, constantly remind yourself that it is the next ball thatmatters not how many runs you have/plan to get etc and the runs will come. Try notto replay the last ball (tricky if it was glorious drive), keep remindingyourself to concentrate on the task in hand not what you have just done scored etc.. Now I’m no psychologistbut this worked for me- All season out in the twenties (1 or 2 lower) worked onmy mindset and ended the last 5 games 78 (no), 56, 0 (lbw outside leg !!!) 60, 59.Now I just need to focus more and drive on to those magic 3 figures. Hope someof this helps and good luck!
