Spinney, there is an old saying in Hindi ... "Chit bhi meri, pat bhi meri"...Which means "Heads is mine, Tails is mine".

Had been following internet during last stages of IPL (as there were idle days in between), hopping between cricket sites,post and forums.There isn't a solid ground for anyone to point at KKR now. All the while CSK's entry to final four and other things were being discussed earlier.

Suddenly KKR wins and all those make a U-Turn with some new arguments, faster than chameleon changes its colors.

Obviously there were only two possibilities, a simple Math outcome , CSK or KKR as winners ... Now that fingers are pointed to all possible outcome.I know what to do next.

I must say it was a great final, really close, and you hardly get finals like this, they're often one sided.

Nonetheless, Raj point of KKR winning hit hard on the fans who thought IPL was fixed doesn't hold salt.  Chennai were favourites due their years of finals experience in IPL.  Wouldn't it get dull seeing the same winners?? KKR winning would make a sweeter fix mate, just think about it.  I'm not saying the game was fixed, but just saying in the match fixing world, your logic doesn't hold.

congratulations to KKR, I was very happy to see them win, my wife, my father all supported KKR throughout the tourney, well done KKR!

Whether the IPL is clean or not, God knows, some strange things have happened, while Vodafone can give the excuse that it was a human error that the SMS (predicting the final beforehand) was sent out and was a coincidence that it came true, the news of IPL official website predicting not one but two outcomes correctly (both involving CSK in the eliminator/qualifier) is swept under the carpet... the same were quickly taken off from the website the moment they realized it.

anyways this is not the time to point fingers at the IPL... this is the time for all KKR fans to celebrate their win... it was a joy to watch Wasim bhai celebrating a win after such a long time... Gauti led the side really well and I have to say Narine was the star of the tournament, the lad has done the WI proud. Kallis was as classy as always, Bisla and Debabrata das played their part when needed... Shakib, Yusuf and Brendon missed out on significant contributions but here and there they played their part, esp Shakib with the ball... he was very difficult to get away.

all in all a wonderful tournament for KKR... well done SRK and his men!!!

Not sure of that screenshot, I had a look at it when it went viral.
1. There isn't the Facebook "Like" icon and fan count
2.  KKR was in No 2 Position, when they finished league matches , the screenshot shows them as Position 1.

So it could be crafty photoshop work. Even if it's not (assuming it was fixed) why on earth would they spill it on official site. Can't find any other reason than software error and content management and publishing issue. Same with Vodafone...

Goofups have happened right from NASA sites to College results website , no big deal there.

2010 final was held in Navi Mumbai DY Patil stadium (as DC were 2009 champs and their home matches were moved to Mumbai due to some problems in AP ).So in 2009 2010 Navi Mumbai was adopted home of defending champs(DC)

2011 finals was held in Chennai as they were 2010 champs.Again as CSK was champs in 2011, 2012 was held again at Chennai.Hope that clear everything.

So next time it will have to go to Eden Gardens ...

Bit sad that MSD could have added another feather in his hat, anyway he should get World T20 Cup and CLT20 this time.

KKR were forced to make some changes due to unavailability of Balaji, something very similar to what DD faced. KKR had to drop McCullum and replace him with Mavindar Bisla, and what a knock he played out of the blue.Had it backfired, I am damn sure few would have smelt it fishy.Many would have even said that IPL was designed for CSK to win.

Nothing new there Sam - I just wanted to ask 1 question 5 players were banned for reason like they getting paid for more or some other reason but why was the team not put to the test who the players were playing for?

Ban 5 useless player and its end?? just to show the world they really care!!!

Vodafone had sent an sms to it's customers 2 days back asking them to watch csk v kkr in the finals before the game between csk and dd had started, on quedtioning vodafone apologiges and says it eas because of human error and it's a coincidence thatit came true.

I don't know what others say , but the way Chennai have played to get to 17 pts and winning 2 pressure games , if they win tournament I would say they deserved to win the tournament.Infact whoever wins from here , seems to be a deserved winner to me.

So coming to the big match this Sunday, I guess KKR is already having jitters about the way CSK are thrashing opponents. KKR would go all out right from the outset, which might backfire big time.KKR might lose even before the battle heats up.While that can happen with CSK too, if overconfidence creeps in.They had two flattering matches against teams like MI and DD.

Can't really expect the outcome of the game, CSK should win it, the moment they made it to top four, they were obvious favorites. They know how to play big matches and win it.Well favorites just means who might win , but every damn favorite has to go out and win it by actions. I'm hoping the same from CSK.

Sunil Naraine is going to be key for KKR , while I expect (hoping) Raina to do something special in finals....Well both the team have such quality and reliability players , that it is hard to guess who will be the Ultimate winner.

As expected the Irfan's injury led to the decision to leave out Morkel, which hurt them badly as said by Shewag during presentation.

However Russell who replaced him did a similar job without taking any wickets (just like what Morkel did against KKR without taking any wickets in previous match). Delhi was circumspect about their batting, first they tried to fill Irfan's utility batting by sacrificing their best bowler, then Shewag comes one down as he is not really comfortable against Hilfy.

They played all four overseas players & Shewag upfront , but the score was too big even for them.DD has the best batting line up, but when you have Warner,Taylor and Russell in one team you can't guess what is going to be the outcome.Can't expect consistency.

That's where they missed KP.

The only time CSK have lost a final be it in IPL or CLT20 was when they played against a team Yusuf Pathan plays for... Yusuf took 3 wickets and scored a match winning 56 in that game... can he do it again in the finals this time!!!??? we've seen signs of that in Qualifier 1...He brings in the X factor...

Regarding the team selection, there were some things that might have led to an uncomfortable decision to leave Morkel out.

Chennai pitch assisting spinners, DD have Yadav and Aaron who fill two Indian spots and are fast bowlers, Morkel had an off day at pune against KKR, then looking at CSK's dangerous batting form against MI, they were forced to strengthen their batting by bringing in Russell.

No matter what , it's gonna be a cracker of a game.

One captaincy I cannot understand is that of Virender Sehwag's!!! after messing it up BIG time in the chase against KKR he comes up with dropping Morne Morkel, his best IPL bowler and plays an unknown player ahead of Irfan Pathan (Injured) who has gone for 47 runs in 3 overs.

CSK seem to be having a foot in the finals unless DD batters do something extraordinary... absolutely cannot believe DD's strategy and tactics here! Hilarious!

Memory mate memory ... but actually CSK have dominated IPL's so much in all five seasons and won CLT20 once, so it is obvious regarding the confusion.No surprises, many of my friends feel the same,even I felt at times, but then immediately I remember Bhajji's antics after winning the cup
( and Maligna's refreshing batting which saved them throught the tournament in precarious situations).

So two more big games to go...I guess KKR might not lift the cup, decode/attack Narine, get Gambhir quickly, the team may fall flat. DD has the best team, KKR a balanced team , but CSK have MSD, One of the best captain I have seen in any format.

Captain is just as good as your team, and you can't expect a captain to win you matches with just the captaincy. Unless you have good players in right form, even world's best captain can't win a single match without team's effort. All that said , this guy makes things happen on the field when going gets tough, which other captains would not do. He has that strange art where he makes wonders at times with his decisions, field placing, bowling changes, tactics and strategies.

I just found out yesterday that MI were actually the winners of CLT20, all this while I was thinking it were CSK... Embarrassed ... but then again it just shows how much I care about these leagues! :)

Coming back to IPL, KKR should win this easy, only problem will be if DD win against CSK tomorrow then they may not lose twice to KKR in back to back games... Sehwag or Warner will come off. so better for KKR if CSK wins tomorrow, I'm very confident that KKR can beat CSK in the finals.

CSK played like champions, these guys are very dangerous once they come to Quarter/Semi or Finals.

CSK take on DD , can't predict the winner ... DD has one of the best bowling attack while their batting is very dangerous on any pitch. They have a line up which can make mockery of 200 runs against any attack, but if they fire, esp at the top.

For CSK , Raina is due for a big big innings. I guess some scintillating innings from him in Semis and Finals ( hopefully) is in store.Nothing like it when Raina is on song.

For KKR , Naraine and Gambhir are the Aces, while there are others like Mcullum, Kallis and brigade of local talent that are quality and can be destructive on their own. Do they have big match nerves? (I don't think so).

Dhoni,Shewag or Gambhir - All my favs , so no problem whoever wins but I would prefer the order which I mentioned.

Very happy for KKR, Wasim in their coaching staff is enough reason for me to support them, and my wife is a huge fan of SRK, she follows KKR games very passionately.

I hope KKR win this tournament, expecting a DD v KKR final.

KKR make it to finals for the first time, they do have a good balanced team.Shewag's strategy to  send some pinch hitters for quest of quick runs pinched him badly.However if that would have come good, none would even question that.

CSK and MI battling it out in Chinnaswamy batting paradise for a spot against DD.

MSD's 6 of Malinga was something very very special ... why he always holds back in T20's. He is one among of the most destructive batsman who always curbs his aggression.

No IPL match today Sleepy , its such a void not to have an interesting game going on. It happens every time when IPL finishes. Unfortunately the test match had an early finish on final day Cry, don't have an option today.

Sam my point was very clear to say that Indian team performance was always good at least from time I started watching cricket late 80's to 2000 at home. Then from 2000's they were better even at abroad. Infact all other teams were on similar lines on performance.Good at home , weak in unfamiliar conditions. (expect few like WI and AUS of certain era who dominate almost all countires)

Your post implied as if only since IPL things have changed in Indian cricket. So cleared your wrong notion (If at all you had any).

Second point - Indians lost because they did not play well , as simple as that. There isn't any IPL reason to it or any other reason.

Doesn't really matter since when I'm watching cricket because I was only talking about last 12 months and I think Team India have had a poor year, I don't know what you mean to say Raj, do you mean every team had similar last 12 months? or Do you mean India haven't enjoyed success before that? Why you always... always dig into history for simple points I really can't understand.

As for the second point, no sarcasm there, I honestly feel the most ardent of IPL fans will lose interest in the event if team India doesn't do well internationally unless the fan is not a team India fan.

I don't know from when you watched Indian cricket or cricket for that matter, really. Agree if you said about Indian's overseas records in 90's and prior to that, but then every team was like that (barring WI of late70's to late 80's (from history books) & Australia mid 90's to mid 2000's). Many teams won at home and lost in foreign conditions.
